Booking

We require a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total rent to confirm a booking, with the balance payable a minimum of one month prior to arrival. If the booking is made less than one month before the arrival date, then the whole rent is payable at the time of booking. Once we have received your deposit, we will send you written confirmation together with your receipt. The contract for your short term holiday rental begins once we have issued your confirmation letter. Non-payment of the balance of the rental on or before the due date shall be construed as a cancellation of the contract and any monies already received at this point will be retained by The Moretons. Prices include VAT at the current rate. We accept Visa, Delta, Maestro, MasterCard, Euro Card and JCB card payments. Rentals start at 3 pm on the day of arrival and finish by 10 am on the day of departure unless alternative arrangements have been agreed.

Charges

Rents for the cottages include gas, electricity, bed linen and towels. There are additional charges for use of the pool; pool sessions should be booked a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Z-beds with bed linen are available for additional guests, subject to availability and space, at a charge of £30.00 per bed, per night. Barbecues, cots, highchairs and stair gates can be provided, subject to availability, free of charge. Please book z-beds, cots, highchairs and stair gates before your arrival.

Care of property/security deposit

We request that you take all reasonable and proper care of your cottage, its furniture, fittings and effects, and the facilities at The Moretons, and leave them in the same state of repair and in the same clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period as at the beginning.

We require payment card details to be held on your booking as security against any damages/breakages that may occur within the cottage(s) booked and in the garden, grounds and shared facilities, caused by any member of your party during your stay. Cottages will be inspected within 7 days of your departure date at which point we will contact you if there are any problems; no monies will be taken from the card without the card owner’s permission. We do expect guests to bag all babies' nappies and empty all refuse bins in the accommodation into the outside refuse recepticles. Should staff have to deal with any human waste or the removal of refuse then a fee of £50 will be charged.

Please let us know about any breakages or damage so that we can arrange to replace/repair the item(s) in time for the arrival of the next guests. We don’t always charge for minor breakages if reported to us before departure. We reserve the right to enter any cottage at all reasonable times for purposes of inspection or to carry out any necessary repairs or maintenance.

Cancellation

If you have to cancel your booking for whatever reason please contact us immediately and we will endeavour to re-let the cottage for the whole period of the booking. Balance payments are due a minimum of one month prior to the start of your booking; if the cancellation is within the month prior to your booking and the balance has not yet been paid you remain liable for the full cost of the booking. If we are able to re-let the cottage for the whole period, we will refund all monies less the non-refundable 20% deposit. Should we be unable to re-let the cottage, then all monies paid shall be retained by The Moretons. It is strongly recommended that you take out cancellation insurance.

If we should need to cancel your booking due to circumstances beyond our control, we will endeavour to offer suitable alternative accommodation.

Cancellation due to coronavirus

In the case of local or national lockdown where we become unable to offer your booked accommodation or you are unable to travel as planned, we will undertake one of the following.

  • for bookings where the balance (due one month prior to arrival) has not yet been paid—offer to refund your deposit or transfer it to an alternative future booking
  • for bookings where full payment has been received—offer a credit note to be used within 12 months towards the total cost of an alternative future booking. Please note that rental charges depend on cottage, season and year, and therefore may be higher than those for the original booking. No refund is available.

Restrictions

We regret that we do not accept pets. All cottages are non-smoking. The number of persons occupying each cottage must not exceed the maximum number as stated in the brochure or on our website unless agreed by us. We reserve the right to refuse entry to the entire party if this condition is not observed.

Safety

All guests and their visitors must ensure that they take all reasonable steps to ensure their own safety and that of others whilst at The Moretons. We cannot accept responsibility for any injury or loss caused whilst in or around the property. All pool rules must be adhered to. Children must be supervised by an adult when using the play equipment. No candles are allowed in the cottages. We do not allow candles in any of our cottages, the pool area or the grounds.

Problems

If for any reason you should incur a problem during your stay at The Moretons, please bring the matter to our attention as soon as is reasonably possible in order that we can rectify the situation. The resident owner, Karen Webb, can be contacted on the mobile number provided in your welcome booklet (received on booking) for any our-of-hours emergencies.
